Liebster Award Nomination

Liebster Award Nomination

Monique from Mo Books  nominated me for the Liebster Award. I am beyond honored and happy that she thought of me for this, so thank you Monique!
The Liebster Award is a way to help blogs you like with less than 200 followers, and to give them some deserved attention so our followers can discover them as well.

Rules:
Link back the blogger that tagged you;
Nominate 10 others and answer the questions of the one who tagged you;
Ask 10 questions for the bloggers you nominate;
Let your nominees know of their award.

Monique's Questions:

1. What are you currently reading?
I am currently reading Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea by April Genevieve Tucholke

2. What is your favorite book(s) of all time?
Well obviously it's the Harry Potter books haha!:)

3. How did you come up with your blogs name?
I seriously don't know haha I was trying to come up with one when I started thinking about why I was doing a blog. So I thought I love to read books and books have words so my blog should be called the words written and tada! That's how I came up with it haha!:)

4. Who are your top 3 book boyfriends?
Huumm....this one is hard, I would say its Cody from Gated, and then Evan from The 5th Wave, and finally I would have to say Augustus from The Fault In Our Stars.

5. Do you have a favorite book quote?
I have many of them!!! haha I could write a whole encyclopedia about them! But this one is my favorite one:
“That's the thing about pain," Augustus said, and then glanced back at me. "It demands to be felt”
― John Green, The Fault in Our Stars

6. Do you have any of your own personal memes on you blog?
No:( maybe I should start one haha.

7. If you could meet any author, past or present, who would it be?
I would die if I met John Green

8.  Have any bookish pet peeves?
When people borrow my books and they fold the corner of a page! Is it really hard to just grab something and use it as a book mark? No need to abuse the poor book!

9. What are your favorite genres?
Young Adult: fiction, romance, science-fic., and fantasy!:)

10. If you could be a character from any book, travel to any world, who would you be? Where would you go? And (again from any book) who would you bring with you?
I would want to be Annabeth from the series of Percy Jackson, and of course I would travel trough all the places they went to in the books, just because I love Greek mythology! Doesn't that sound awesome learning Greek mythology and being a demi-god?

My Questions:

1. What are you currently reading?
2. What is your favorite book(s) of all time?
3. How did you come up with your blogs name?
4. Who are your top 3 book boyfriends?
5. Do you have a favorite book quote?
6. Do you have any of your own personal memes on you blog?

Book Review

Review: Gated By Amy Christine Parker

Title: Gated
AuthorAmy Christine Parker
Series: No series
Book #: 1
Pages: 352
Book Rating:
Goodreads Rating: 3.82
Published: August 6th 2013

In Mandrodage Meadows, life seems perfect. The members of this isolated suburban community have thrived under Pioneer, the charismatic leader who saved them from their sad, damaged lives. Lyla Hamilton and her parents are original members of the flock. They moved here following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, looking to escape the evil in the world. Now seventeen, Lyla knows certain facts are not to be questioned:

Pioneer is her leader.

Will is her Intended.

The end of the world is near.

Like Noah before him, Pioneer has been told of the imminent destruction of humanity. He says his chosen must arm themselves to fight off the unchosen people, who will surely seek refuge in the compound's underground fortress--the Silo.

Lyla loves her family and friends, but given the choice, she prefers painting to target practice. And lately she'd rather think about a certain boy outside the compound than plan for married life in the Silo with Will. But with the end of days drawing near, she will have to pick up a gun, take a side, and let everyone know where she stands.

This book is incredible! I was expecting a dystopian novel but it wasn't. Since I have read about Jonestown I started figuring out where this book was going towards. This is not a happy book. It's bittersweet. I thought that the characters were great it made feel as if I was walking right beside them.
The first part of the story was kind of slow, but that's what I loved about it because it wasn't too slow. It describes the Community which makes you feel part of it. It tells you about the people in the Community and how Lyla and her family got there. It shows how Pioneer is a nice, charismatic leader. In some books the authors have trouble catching the leader's charisma, but not Parker. I seriously believed that Pioneer was a nice man, he made me believe in him.
In the second part the pre-chapters quotes change from Pioneer's to quotes from people like Jim Jones. That's when you know that something bad is going to happen. I literally read this whole book in one day! The thriller just makes you keep on going. You won't be able to put it down till you have read the whole book. You become hook! What I like is that Lyla is not portrayed as a kickass heroine. She is strong I admit, she has to make really hard decisions. But the thing about her is that she is just a child and she is scared because everything that she believed in is suddenly questioned and it turns out it was all a lie. When she learns about the lies she still goes with Pioneer, which shows how much he has brainwashed the people at the community. I was literally shaking the book because I thought it was stupid that after Lyla learns the truth she still goes to stand next to Pioneer. But I understand why she did it, that was a natural reaction for her since she had always felt safe with Pioneer. Lyla saves the people in the Community but the author doesn't write her as a hero. And the worst part is that people in the Community blame her. Like Lyla's mom, when Lyla told her the truth she still believed that Pioneer was a nice person. She was broken and afraid of the world and Pioneer used that to exploit her.
The romance also is incredible! There's a love triangle, but at the same time it's not really a love triangle because Lyla and Will knew since the beginning that Lyla only loved Will as a friend. It was only because of Pioneer that they were going out. I love Cody he is just a simple guy, nothing incredible about him which just makes him right for Lyla. It was a really great change of reading about guys that have powers and are badboys to just a simple town boy trying to make the character realize the truth. So yeah I recommend this book go buy it now! Oh and do a little research about Jim Jones and Jonestown it was a really horrible event, and you should be informed about it.

Blogger Spotlight Tour Featuring Hardback Book Hotties

Blogger Spotlight Tour is hosted by Justine of The Closet Library and Jazmen of This Girl Reads a Lot and today, I am proud to host  Syreeta (one of the two hotties;))from Hardback Book Hotties!

Syreeta blogs at Hardback Book Hotties and she is a mom of two beautiful daughters. Syreeta is all about the covers of books. She loves book covers, she will look at them in depth before cracking open the book, the book cover holds so many unknowing questions and she can’t wait to delve in and find the answers. If the cover captivates her, she will be committed, devoted and ready! (Some of us are guilty of grabbing a book based on their cover;)). So here's my interview with her...Enjoy!...

Interview:
1. Tell us a little history about your blog and how it got started.
I had done some blogging for a friends blog and loved it. I got pregnant and stopped blogging. Then I wanted to start a book blog on my own, I contacted my best friend to see if she wanted to do it with me and the rest is history.

2. What is your favourite part about book blogging?  I absolutely love the blogging community. I have made some really great friends, and have networked with some amazing authors and publishers.

3. What advice can you give to people who are interested in making their own book blog, or to other bloggers?  I say go for it. Be prepared to get busy fast. Also, you have to be organized because there are so many tours, blitzes, reviews... etc that you can get involved with, not even including the Weekly Meme's.

4. List your top three current favourite books.
My favorite childhood book will always be Charlotte's Web as an adult, As for individual books I cannot list them individually, but I am in love with several series, Twilight Saga, Black Dagger Brotherhood, The Otherworld Series
As for Indie writers, I am a fan of The Agape Series and Creatura,

5. Imagine that the apocalypse has happened and you could only have ONE book in your possession to read for the rest of your life which one would it be? And why? It would be the Bible. I am not a very religious person, but the bible offers so much and I have only barely scratched the surface of all that it holds. I feel like if I want a story, inspiration, quotes, etc the Bible will provide all that plus more and it can be interpreted in so many different ways based on how a person feels when they read it. I think that it would be a great companion to have with me.

6. And the last question, why is it important to always have a book in your hand?  Reading for me has always been so important. It is like breathing. It takes me away from my busy life and plants me in worlds of wonder. It gives such pleasure and enjoyment, that is why I must have a book at hand.

Thanks Syreeta for answering my questions, I enjoyed learning about you! You can go stalk the hotties on Twitter, Facebook, and Bloglovin. Have a great day and please go follow Syreeta! (She'll give you a cupcake if you do;) I'm kidding haha I'm just craving a cupcake!).

Stumbling Trough Books

Hello dear readers! Just wanted to say that no I am not DEAD! I'm just trying to adjust to the college life, which is not as easy as it looks. I thought that it would be like the movies, parties every weekends, hot guys everywhere, bumping into you and falling in love instantly! But no this is real life and so instead I have to run from one building to the other to make it on time. I have tons of homework and my sleeping pattern is all messed up because as soon as I get home I go to sleep (it's because of all the running I'm doing). So I didn't have time to post anything in blogger. Which is really sad but today my brother got sick and thus we decided not to go to college. So here I am browsing through Goodreads instead of catching up in my homework and it's all because of you guys. Yup! I am blaming it on you! Yes you! You know who you are!!!

P.S. I have a confession to make...so I lied about reading Viral Nation! *Le Gasp!* I know, I know I said I was reading it but I only read like four pages. In my defense I got the book Gated and it sounded more interesting and so it's the new book that I am reading right now. Maybe when I am done with Gated I'll read Viral Nation hehe.

So before I go mad here is a book I came across Goodreads! Enjoy!

From Goodreads:
My tale has been told again and again, and I’ve heard each one. Except for my hair, I barely recognize the pitiful renditions. Muddled versions, crafted to entertain laughing children…but the children wouldn't have laughed if they’d known the real story. It wasn't their fault. They didn't know the truth. Nobody did.
My name is Rapunzel and I will tell you my story. I will tell you the truth.

Me:
This sounds really interesting doesn't it? I love this line "but the children wouldn't have laughed if they’d known the real story" Uh CREEPY right? I wanna know the truth!
Anyways so I don't know if it's already published or if it's coming soon. All I know is that the reader gave out some arc's of the book so that people could review it. If you guys find anything about it make sure you let me know?
