Which means that I've only been a teacher for 4 months more or less. That totally means that I am NOT an expert in my field, but I do make up for it by being a bit tech savvy. For example here I have some rubrics that I created for my 7th grade ELAR department. We are preparing our 7th graders for their STAAR writing. I was introduced to ARMS and CUPS recently and I've been using it with my kiddos a lot. As my department and I started lesson planning for how to get the kids ready to write we decided that we needed some type of rubrics for them, to check their own work and the work of their partners. And the following is what I came up with...hope you enjoy it!<br />

<br />
So my first year as a teacher is going great...kinda. There has been a few bumps here and there that have made me question whether I really want to be a teacher or not. I assume every new teacher goes though that. It's a good thing that I have an amazing group of friends (all of us are English teachers who got recently hired! Yay!) who are very understanding. I can always go to them for advice, success stories, or to rant and cry. Without them I probably wouldn't be where I am right now.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://media.giphy.com/media/l4KhM2UyHjdNsUlW0/giphy.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="328" data-original-width="583" height="180" src="https://media.giphy.com/media/l4KhM2UyHjdNsUlW0/giphy.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Because of their support and because I know not every first year teacher has the same support system as I do, I decided to change my blog a bit. I want to use my blog as a place for other teachers to give and seek advice. And also to just share ideas and resources. I am a great believer in sharing knowledge and ideas that work and not just keeping it to yourself because you want to be the only best teacher at your campus. Teaching should be fundamentally about wanting every single kid to pass, whether that student is yours or not.<br />
<br />
When I first started blogging it was to review books and as a hobby for my deep love of literature. Unfortunately that had to stop because I was so busy with my job all the time. It wasn't until recently that a teacher gave me a great advice, "Don't let your life be only about teaching or it will make you miserable, you need to find hobbies that you like to keep yourself sane". I realized that reading has always been my passion and I need to start enjoying it more. So to conclude my little update, I just want to say that I will try my best to post more book reviews, teacher printables, and teacher discussions.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>The magical world that is Caraval. I felt like I was right there in the middle of the game. Every clue and obstacles that Scarlett went through the reader also goes through it. At some points I would even play along and think "that's gotta be a clue". And even when I thought I had things figured out, I still ended up being surprised most of the time. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Another thing that I liked about this story was the writing style. It honestly feels magical and fairytale-like. The mystery that is Legend and his performers was stunning. And even though you really don't get to know more about Legend I have a feeling that the next book will focus more on him. The island where Caraval is played sounds breathtaking, it honestly reminded me a bit of Alice in Wonderland, or at least that's what I pictured the island to look like haha.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Another thing that I loved was the romance. I don't know if others thought the same as me but for some reason I thought that Scarlett was going to end up falling in love with Legend. But it was a nice turn of events that she actually fell for Julian. Although the romance felt a little bit too rushed, I completely ship them haha. I think I really like this pairing because if you look at it from Julian's side it is very romantic and innocent. </li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1nlPVqqE2DjVERVIV5GXDZZtVdcxCH9JeoZu29m7zqxId_kD_baMKhE3nZYwGQDpmUi3a68DaOowL8ZGaaK-iv41zFhEFKN2zkgKM4KGsMR9J99o5pwoDoEkF8NCvdjchCPlcO8XTuIE/s1600/3things+i+hate.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1nlPVqqE2DjVERVIV5GXDZZtVdcxCH9JeoZu29m7zqxId_kD_baMKhE3nZYwGQDpmUi3a68DaOowL8ZGaaK-iv41zFhEFKN2zkgKM4KGsMR9J99o5pwoDoEkF8NCvdjchCPlcO8XTuIE/s320/3things+i+hate.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Despite the beautiful world-building that Stephanie Garber created some things she left very vague and didn't explain at all. For example how Scarlett assigns colors to emotions. Is she like reading auras? Is she magical? We don't know because it's never explained.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>How much Scarlett complains and frets, I honestly didn't like her very much. Julian and her sister, Tella, on the other hand I did. It was a nice surprise to find how different these characters are in reality as compared to how Scarlett depicts them. </li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>The lies. That is something that I didn't really like that much. I understand that it was necessary to create that mysterious atmosphere. But I swear sometimes I just wanted to stop reading the book because it became too much. The lies, the vague actions of certain characters, and the whole mysterious scenes sometimes became too much. But overall it was nice when at the end everything is explained so I guess it was worth it. </li>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
I honestly don't know what to say about this book, I mean it was a nice book but that's it. It was entertaining and the pace was fast which is why I ended up finishing this book in like one day and a half. The story line was interesting and the characters were okay too. But, for some reason this book wasn't like magical to me, that's the reason I'm giving it 4 stars and not 5. Like I said before everything is just okay, I feel like this is one of the books you should read when it's raining outside and you are stuck inside. A book to read just to pass the time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://media.giphy.com/media/aBj9b5VIEZfwI/giphy.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="https://media.giphy.com/media/aBj9b5VIEZfwI/giphy.gif" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
The plot line was interesting, from the beginning the reader is hooked. I mean in the first few chapters Kori has to fight for her life. That's something that I enjoyed about her, her willingness to fight back and not let herself be the damsel in distress. I also liked that she admitted that it was also okay to have someone save her, that it was not possible for herself to get out tough situations without any help. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
There was only a few things that I did not like about this book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
First one: I hate how Kori would be all like I need to stop kissing Cade because it's not real and fair he doesn't like me, and will only end up hurting each other. And then she would initiate it again three more times. Like really girl have some restraint especially when you're fighting for your life.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
I loved the relationship of Kori and her father, and Kori and Noah. I think if the author would've explored this relationships more than the love drama it would have been interesting. But nope instead we get Kori and Cade love drama. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
The last thing that I hated was the ending! Ughhhh honestly I just wanted to hit Kori. I understand how exciting it would be if you get to go around traveling parallel dimensions but come on you're doing it to stop a killer. I hated how Kori was all like yay this is what I needed in my life, more adventure! She makes it seem like everything is okay and she's just going to go travel the world. I wished the ending was written a bit different just to put the emphasis about the danger they are about to go into and not make it seem as if the characters are going to go travel Europe. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Anyways I'll probably read the second book just to see what happens. And like I said if you want to read a book quickly just to pass time this is the one.</div>

<span style="color: #181818;">No one expects a princess to be brutal. And Lada Dragwlya likes it that way. Ever since she and her gentle younger brother, Radu, were wrenched from their homeland of Wallachia and abandoned by their father to be raised in the Ottoman courts, Lada has known that being ruthless is the key to survival. She and Radu are doomed to act as pawns in a vicious game, an unseen sword hovering over their every move. For the lineage that makes them special also makes them targets.</span><br />
<span style="color: #181818;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #181818;">Lada despises the Ottomans and bides her time, planning her vengeance for the day when she can return to Wallachia and claim her birthright. Radu longs only for a place where he feels safe. And when they meet Mehmed, the defiant and lonely son of the sultan, Radu feels that he’s made a true friend—and Lada wonders if she’s finally found someone worthy of her passion.</span><br />
<span style="color: #181818;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<span style="color: #181818;">But Mehmed is heir to the very empire that Lada has sworn to fight against—and that Radu now considers home. Together, Lada, Radu, and Mehmed form a toxic triangle that strains the bonds of love and loyalty to the breaking point. </span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Best book ever!!!! Honestly, this book blew away my expectations. And I Darken is exactly what I had been looking for in a book for a long time. It is super unique and leaves an impression on you after reading it. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to say this is a book that has the best character development ever. We don't only get to read the thoughts of two main characters but we get to realize why they do the things they do and why they are the way they are. And I have to say Radu and Lada are completely polar opposite of each other. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>“She plucked a rose and held it to her face. She hated the way roses smelled, their sweetness too fragile. She wanted a garden of evergreens. A garden of stones. A garden of swords.” </i></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love Lada because she doesn't filter herself. She says what is on her mind and better yet she doesn't pretend to be someone she's not. I've read many books that declare the girl to be anti-princess, yet at the end they do and act like one. Or they let themselves be influenced by a boy. Well Lada is not a princess at all, she is ruthless and she doesn't let any man dictate her life. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>“On our wedding night," she said, "I will cut out your tongue and swallow it. Then both tongues that spoke our marriage vows will belong to me, and I will be wed only to myself. You will most likely choke to death on your own blood, which will be unfortunate, but I will be both husband and wife and therefore not a widow to be pitied.” </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>― Kiersten White, And I Darken</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i><br /></i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Radu on the other hand is such a sweet boy. He has always been overshadowed by his sister. When they get to the Ottoman empire, Radu realizes that some battles are not won only by fists, but also through politics. Something he excels at. It is here that you see Radu grow from a weak boy to a strong independent man. And although him and Lada have their own problems you can clearly see the love they have for each other. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>“..If anyone is going to kill you, it will be me. Understand?"</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Radu nodded, snuggling into her shoulder. "Will you protect me?</i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>"Until the day I kill you." She jabbed a finger into his side, where he was most ticklish, and he squealed with pained laughter.” </i></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>― Kiersten White, And I Darken</i></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have to talk about the love triangle in this book. Usually I hate love triangles they're such a cliche and so annoying, but the love triangle in this book is so different it's honestly going to shock you. Overall I loved this book, I loved how the author developed the characters, the story line, even the writing is so beautifully done. I honestly can not wait to read the next book. </div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Happy New Year everyone! I am super bummed out that I had to disappear for a long time from blogging but life just got hectic! I was working, going to school, taking my state exams to become a certified teacher, and just stressing out over everything. But I am back! I am no longer working, since this semester I will be doing my student teaching! I am super excited about graduating on May, YAY! so close haha. So I will be going back to high school o_o haha but I should have some time to read in the afternoons and that I am excited about! No more school textbooks! Anyways hope this year will not be as stressful as last year, and I hope to be able to blog more...so let's get this post started. </span> </span></div>

Each Friday, and the goal is to promote the book blogging and author community to join together and support each other! Each Friday, a new prompt is posted for everyone to answer, and today’s prompt is…</span></div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;">I thought that this question would be hard to answer since I haven't been able to read much this last year, but since I am back to reading (inhaling) books I have to say...</span></div>

<i><a href="https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22817331-now-i-rise?ac=1&from_search=true">Now I Rise</a></i> by Kiersten White, which comes out June 27th. Yikes! Still some time to go before I get to read this amazing book. This is one of the books I am looking forward to reading for 2017 because <i>And I Darken</i> was the first book I read the first time I got the chance to have some me time after quitting my job and passing all my state exams. That was the book that got me back in the game of reading:) </div>

Anyways which book are you looking forward to reading for 2017? Oh and please let me know which books I should read/catch up on, that you recommend, since I was away from the reading world for almost a year so I am sure I've missed some awesome books.<br />

Fantasy books all the way haha! When I read I do it to get away from the real life. I read because I like to get sucked in into a new world. Worlds that were made from the mind of someone, doesn't that sound awesome how a person's imagination can create a whole new world and share it with other people. Like Hogwarts haha! So yup fantasy books for me.<br />

She saved the life of Jeb, the guy she loves, and escaped the machinations of the disturbingly seductive Morpheus and the vindictive Queen Red. Now all she has to do is graduate high school and make it through prom so she can attend the prestigious art school in London she's always dreamed of.</span><br />

And it would be much simpler if the mysterious Morpheus didn’t show up for school one day to tempt her with another dangerous quest in the dark, challenging Wonderland—where she (partly) belongs.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Oh my god I'm totally speechless about this book, and not in a good way. What happened? Splintered was really awesome and I expected more amazingness for this book but instead I was so disappointed. It took me two weeks to finish this book, when usually it takes me two days to finish a book. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Ok so let's talk about the plot. The book was literally all about Alyssa being over dramatic about which guy to choose. I wanted to shake her so bad! I'm super serious about the whole book being about Morpheus trying to get Alyssa to go to Wonderland and stop Red. And her saying to give her more time so that she could explain to Jeb what happened to him in Wonderland.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
And Jeb, oh my god don't get me started on him. He was annoying and kept disappearing during the whole book, and when he was there he just wanted to have sex with Alyssa. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
And then finally like ten pages before the book ends we get to the exciting part where they discover where is Red going to attack, and you guys will never guess where, prom! Are you freaking kidding me! Prom!!! WHY??? so overall this book annoyed me so much, there where only small parts that I really enjoyed for example the scene of Morpheus taking care of Rabid. So I will definitely read Ensnared next but will I ever read this book again? Probably not. </div>

Yes I have three doubles haha, let me tell you how that happened. Last semester I took my YA literature class, we had a list of books that we had to read. I bought almost all of the books in my kindle, but the ones that I really loved I actually went and bought the physical book. I literally bought them just so that I could hug them haha. And those books were The Book Thief and Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, as for the third book it's The Hunger Games. I had the book with me but I decided to buy the ebook just so that it could be one more less thing for me to carry around my university, and because it's easier to search for a quote.<br />

Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers—precisely the affliction that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. This family curse stretches back to her ancestor Alice Liddell, the real-life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s </span><em style="color: #181818; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland</em><span style="color: #181818; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">. Alyssa might be crazy, but she manages to keep it together. For now.</span></span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br style="color: #181818; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;" /></span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 19.3199996948242px;">When her mother’s mental health takes a turn for the worse, Alyssa learns that what she thought was fiction is based in terrifying reality. The real Wonderland is a place far darker and more twisted than Lewis Carroll ever let on. There, Alyssa must pass a series of tests, including draining an ocean of Alice’s tears, waking the slumbering tea party, and subduing a vicious bandersnatch, to fix Alice’s mistakes and save her family. She must also decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy but suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland, who may have dark motives of his own.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">I love this book! And I know I've been saying that about every single book I read but it's the truth. This book is so twisted I love it. I like how we see some characters we have all known from our childhood and they are not what we thought them to be. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.thebarefootbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/alice_in_wonderland17.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.thebarefootbeat.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/alice_in_wonderland17.jpg" height="196" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Alyssa: She's strong, funny, and a bit crazy. I like how she doesn't depend entirely on Jeb. She can get things done by herself. I think that the reason I really liked Alyssa's character is because she is finding herself. She is realizing how strong and dependent she can be. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Jeb: Ughhh. That's all I have to say. I don't really see the point of him been in the story, Yeah he can be sweet and is very family-oriented. But there were times when he was so overprotective it felt like he was holding Alyssa back. I honestly didn't like him, and as I continue reading Unhinged I am starting to dislike him quite more. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Morpheus: Yay! I am totally team Morpheus! But don't get me wrong I know he is not a saint at all. He is very manipulative. There were times where I was seriously confused because I didn't know if he was good or evil. He is selfish, but selfless. He is manipulative, but sometimes honest. He is thoughtless, but can also be considerate. I honestly love him. He doesn't want to shelter Alyssa he pushes her, so that she can realize her own limits, so that she can see how much potential she has. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="line-height: 18px;">Overall I really loved this book. I did not see that little twist with Alyssa's lineage coming, so it was really surprising. There were parts in the book that I had to reread twice because I didn't get but overall it's easy to understand. I really recommend this book to everyone. </span></span></div>

<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">Meira made me really like this book. Finally I read a book were the female character is strong and brave (and doesn't need any boys, well maybe a little bit). There were many reasons why I loved this book so let me list them. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">-All the season related sayings that they had.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>"Golden Leaves," he swears</b></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>“Even the strongest blizzards start with a single snowflake” </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">-And obviously how awesome Meira is.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<b><span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">“No matter what happens, no matter who turns on me, no matter what pompous swine thinks he has power over me, I am still me. I will always be me.” </span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>“I wanted a life of my own, a life where I could feel myself being a part of Winter. And that, to me, came through fighting for it.” </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">-I loved the setting and the people, especially I loved reading about the Winterians and how their hope was never really broken. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>“Someday we will be more than words in the dark.” </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>(This quote gives me chills every time I read it)</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>“Sometimes placing our belief in something bigger than ourselves helps us get to a point where we can be enough on our own, magic or no magic.”</b></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">-Heck I even like the love triangle!</span><br />
<b style="color: #181818; line-height: 18px; text-align: center;">“I’m at the center of this, a weird possessive feud between the Winter king and the Cordellan prince.”</b></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;">Ok so I'm going to stop there before I write the whole book! Seriously I can't wait to read the second book and I really recommend this book.</span><br />

<a href="http://www.etcpb.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Confetti-2015-Colors-Happy-New-Year-2015.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://www.etcpb.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/Confetti-2015-Colors-Happy-New-Year-2015.jpg" height="199" width="320" /></a></div>
Happy New Year to everyone! I hope you guys started with a good day and if not here's a <a href="http://www.latimes.com/food/dailydish/la-dd-how-to-cure-a-hangover-recipes-story.html">recipe </a>to cure hangovers haha!<br />
<br />
For this year I have some bookish goals that I hope to accomplish. I know this year I didn't really blog that much, school and work always left me exhausted! But I hope that for this year I can juggle all three of them.<br />
<br />
My Goals:<br />
<br />
<ol>
<li>Read more books- I became to lazy about reading books. If I had time I would spent it either sleeping or browsing through imgur. If you guys don't know what that is, don't google it it's for your own safety. </li>
<li>Blog more- I definitely miss blogging so this year I will try to find the time to blog. </li>
<li>Organize myself- Between school homework and getting a promotion at my work (becoming the supervisor of 20 something cashiers) I was running all over the place and being super stressed. So for this year I need to organize myself and maybe get an agenda or something. </li>
<li>Remember why I started blogging and try to go back to being that person, not force myself to read a book that I don't want to, just because everyone else is doing it. Reading and blogging is something I created because it was a way to de-stress myself and I had fun. </li>
<li>Complete the 2015 reading challenge that I set for reading 50 books. I know it's a small number of books compared to those who read 100 but last year I didn't have time to read so now I want to select a realistic number. </li>
<li>Start a new feature- Sometimes it's hard getting followers for your blog so I was thinking about doing a feature called Friday: Find a Friend. Where every Friday you team up with a new blogger that you find (or maybe I could team bloggers, I'm still not sure about it) and ask each other some questions to get to know each other. And then you go around following bloggers so that we can all make more friends!:) For this idea I would need to find a co-host who would help me, so if you are interested let me know:)</li>
</ol>
<div>
So for now those are my book related goals, which ones are yours? I hope you have a great day and a great year!</div>
<div>
Love, </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"> That quote perfectly describes how I feel about this book. I just want to tear this book into pieces and love them all to death. When I was reading the book I started by liking the characters and how they acted and then out of nowhere BOOM! I fell in love with them! I kept on flipping through the pages like crazy, I had never before been so invested in some characters like I was with Eleanor and Park. Their love is just pure and innocent, it reminds me back when I had my first boyfriend and holding hands was a big deal. </span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;"><b>“Holding Eleanor's hand was like holding a butterfly. Or a heartbeat. Like holding something complete, and completely alive.”</b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"> Their epic romance starts not with words but with silence. They communicate through comic books and music. And then it keeps on progressing. For the first time I read a book that it's about two normal high school kids falling in love in a VERY realistic way. It wasn't love at first sight in fact they had a rocky beginning, but that's what makes this book so amazing. Because it feels realistic, and the readers can relate to this book. I remember being in high school and being self-conscious, just like Eleanor. And Park being half Korean and half Irish and trying to figure who he really was, just like any other teenager in the world.</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<b><span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"> </span></span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;">“Eleanor was right. She never looked nice. She looked like art, and art wasn't supposed to look nice; it was supposed to make you feel something.”</span><span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"> </span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<b><span style="color: #181818; font-family: georgia, serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px;"><br /></span></b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<span style="color: #181818;"><span style="font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"> I liked how the story was really realistic. It wasn't all about romance there was also family problems. But the only problem I had was with Eleanor's step father. Would an adult really do that? Right those things like a little kid? To me that was a little unbelievable. But over all I really liked this book so much and if you haven't read it I recomend that you go and read it right now. </span></span></div>

The reason why I picked this book up to read was because of the idea that in the future you can escape reality through an app, You can see parts of the world that you didn't know without having to travel. To me it sounded really interesting. Well too bad that my interest didn't really hold for much time. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
I had a lot of problems with this book:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
First, I wanted to know more about the history of the setting. The characters keep mentioning that the air is polluted. Buildings had to be piped with oxygen and outside people had to wear an oxygen mask. When I read this I was really impressed, I was like "Ok this sounds cool, how did this happen?" But I never got my answer. I kept waiting and waiting hoping I would read something more about the big problem in the world but I got nothing. I get that the book's main point was the technology but if they are going to have the world be air polluted they should have given the readers a little more info about it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Another problem I had with this book was the characters I honestly didn't like any of them. Regan was too emotional, I felt she was all over the place and was very indecisive. I found it really stupid how she kept questioning the wrong people. And for someone who was her "best friend ever" she was quick to question Patrick's actions. Their friendship was very dull, it felt more like they had become friends a few weeks prior. Overall Regan was really dull and annoying. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Josh was a jerk, he was the typical bad boy. He was dark and mysterious. Blah! I feel like every book I pick now a days is about a bad boy, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
Patrick I liked a bit better than the other characters. But maybe that's because he is geeky. I really hated how his character turned at the end. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">
So overall this was not a good book for me I was debating whether to rate it a 2 stars or 3. So I just went for 3 and hope that the second book is better. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: start;">

Now everyone knows that college students are poor! So we all buy used books because they are cheaper. Well in the bookstore of my university I was skimming through the books trying to get ones that didn't have any writing on them. I was lucky to find some, but still I was horrified by how many books had pages almost fully highlighted!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media20.giphy.com/media/5PXiPEbUoLsw8/giphy.gif?w=320" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media20.giphy.com/media/5PXiPEbUoLsw8/giphy.gif?w=320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And my horror didn't end there! After I purchased my book, The Catcher in the Rye by the way, I went to class and opened the book to read. One of my fellow classmates sat down next to me and we started to discuss the book. One moment we were having fun talking about the book and the next moment I look up and see her writing in her perfectly new bought book!!! Those new smelly pages were being tortured and replaced with the horrendous odor of highliter and ink! So when I asked her why she was writing on them she said because she wanted to mark the important parts. Which I replied with, "have you met the sticky notes cause I have a bunch of them and I can just give them to you, so that you can stop torturing the poor book!!!!" and then she told me that if she needed another clean book she could just go and buy another one. By this point my face was just comical by the way I was starting at her in shock.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media3.giphy.com/media/mAyKtbkBTTpFm/giphy.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media3.giphy.com/media/mAyKtbkBTTpFm/giphy.gif" height="159" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
She not only tortured the book but it didn't mean anything to her, probably after we are done with the book she will throw it in the trash or something. Me on the other hand, I've always seen books as holy items that you do NOT write on or replace! I feel like books have history in them, maybe I'm just a big sentimental person but that's my view on marking books. So how do you feel about writing on books.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://media20.giphy.com/media/vO4DwwxF6Qpjy/giphy.gif?w=320" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://media20.giphy.com/media/vO4DwwxF6Qpjy/giphy.gif?w=320" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So in this book we've got a girl who pretends to be a boy in order to serve in the king's army, reminds you of any Disney movie? So it's safe to say that we were all expecting a Mulan story right? I think that's the reason why this book was a huge disappointment. Mulan was actually brave and all badass, and Alex? Well she does nothing but cry and whine all the time. So let me tell you why this book disappointed me:</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">My first problem, control! Don’t you have any Alex? And she calls
herself a soldier. I’ve seen more control in a chicken than I saw with Alex.
She has been acting like a boy for a long time now but out of the blue all the
guys become desirable to her. Alex sees Damian shirtless and “coated with a
fine sheen of sweat” and what does she do? She becomes shy, stares at the guy’s
chest and blushes. UMM HELLO! Don’t you work out with guys who sweat all the
time? I thought she was used to seeing shirtless boys “coated with a fine sheen
of sweat” all the time. And Rylan oh how
hot and beautiful he is with his chocolate brown eyes. Oh poor Alex how can she
resist this delicious boys? it’s not like there’s a war going around her! You
know I am tired of these ridiculous love triangles. It gets BORING!!! With the same poor bastard
guy who is actually a really nice person but who never gets the girl because she
is all over the dark and mysterious bad boy! The whole freaking book was filled
with stupid sentences like Alex’s heart “pounds”, it “constricts”, “beats
erratically” and my favorite one “skipped a beat”. Her cheeks “grew warm”, “flamed”,
“felt flushed”. Well that’s dandy it results that the best kick ass girl ever
acts like a 12 year old girl with her first crush. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://31.media.tumblr.com/13711e528f6421ff00b091b042c07804/tumblr_mq97f07B5p1rqil7eo6_500.gif" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" src="http://31.media.tumblr.com/13711e528f6421ff00b091b042c07804/tumblr_mq97f07B5p1rqil7eo6_500.gif" height="181" width="320" /></span></a></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"></span><br />
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Now going back to control. Alex is supposed to be a soldier
of the ELITE army that serves for the prince. She is the best soldier the
squadron has, I mean she is so BAD-ASS that she could beat her older brother
and the whole squadron, as a matter of fact she could also beat the captain who
is older and has more experience! Well what a great soldier she is! She can’t
even control her emotions! Exhibit A: Read the paragraph above. Exhibit B: when
she and her brother, Marcel, go to the breeding house (By the way WHAT THE
HELL?) she runs away crying when she’s surrounded by the KING’S guards who are
savages! Yeah cause men always run away bawling their eyes out, you’re NOT suspicious
at all Alex. I get that it was something traumatic but she had already gone
there before, and in the book the author never mentions that she also ran away
screaming. So why would she do it the second time when she already knew what to
expect? And the thing that annoyed me to no end was that poor Marcel took the
blame and got punished in the place of Alex. Because the girl has no control
whatsoever!<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> And also the
inclusion of the rape/breeding house makes no sense to me! I get that it was
mentioned to instill fear and portray the king as evil but it was only
mentioned one time, as a matter of fact if the author wanted to show that
everyone feared the King why not do more scenes with the king acting evil? I
mean for a king who was fearsome he sure seemed evil staying in his room all
the time. The king is supposed to be one of the main evil characters including
Iker but they are mentioned in total three times! There’s an evil king and a black
sorcerer but instead of focusing in that let’s bore the readers with shirtless
guys running around coated in sweat and let’s make the girl cry and run away
because she can’t decide which boy to choose! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Another thing that I felt the book was lacking was
background information. We have these awesome kingdoms but we don’t know
anything about them. We’ve got magic and sorcerers, as a matter of fact there
are many different kinds of sorcerers and they have their own history. But do
we hear anything about that? No! There’s no time for a history lesson because Alex
has to save the whole kingdom while she runs through the jungle, and at this point
she’s kidnapped but it doesn’t matter apparently, because her lovers are fighting
for her. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">So if you want to read a book about love triangles and guys
running around shirtless and sweaty this book is great for you. But if you want
action and an actual kick-ass women being bad-ass I recommend you to watch
Mulan, because this book will disappoint you. <o:p></o:p></span></div>

As Regan investigates the claims, she discovers a disturbing web of secrets. She will soon have to choose between love and loyalty…a decision that will affect the lives of millions.</span><br />

As Tyler and Kyra retrace her steps from the fateful night of her disappearance, they discover strange phenomena that no one can explain, and they begin to wonder if Kyra’s father is not as crazy as he seems. There are others like her who have been taken . . . and returned. Kyra races to find an explanation and reclaim the life she once had, but what if the life she wants back is not her own?</span><br />

With hidden foes lurking around every corner, is Alex strong enough to save herself and the kingdom she's sworn to protect?</span></div>

<a href="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/bee6cd_c0620e1bb86708ae44cd746ff50a2a83.jpg_srz_p_700_1060_75_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_jpg_srz" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://static.wixstatic.com/media/bee6cd_c0620e1bb86708ae44cd746ff50a2a83.jpg_srz_p_700_1060_75_22_0.50_1.20_0.00_jpg_srz" width="263" /></span></a></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The short film "The Greater Good" shows the end of the friendship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This 17-minute film was inspired by the movie <i>Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows </i>scene were Aberforth tells the story of the fight that led to the death of Ariana. Since the movie didn't show any scenes of the fight some fans decided to do a short film about it. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Even though the film is made by fans the effects are still really good and the costumes seem really authentic to those used in the actual Harry Potter films. And not to mention the cast are some hotties! Just look at Dumbledore and Grindelwald! ;)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">You can see the film below here....</span><br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><iframe allowfullscreen='allowfullscreen' webkitallowfullscreen='webkitallowfullscreen' mozallowfullscreen='mozallowfullscreen' width='320' height='266' src='https://www.youtube.com/embed/OGHBwk0quxs?feature=player_embedded' frameborder='0'></iframe></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">And is it just me or can you see subtle references to Dumbledore's romantic interest to Grindelwald? Anyways while some have complained about the accuracy of the plot I think it was really great for being a fan made film. Even the Harry Potter films weren't accurate in some parts to the books. I give them high fives for at least trying and doing a good job! This proves that the movies might be finished already but Harry Potter still lives on with us. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">P.S. I love this other poster of the movie....</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 20.375px; text-align: center;"><br /></span><span style="color: #181818; line-height: 19px;">Sixteen-year-old Rayna sees angels, and has the medication and weekly therapy sessions to prove it. Now, in remission, Rayna starts fresh at a new school, lands a new job, and desperately tries for normalcy. She ignores signs that she may be slipping into the world she has tried so hard to climb out of. But these days, it’s more than just hallucinations that keep Rayna up at night. Students are dying, and she may be the only one who can stop it. Can she keep her job, her sanity, and her friends from dying at the hands of angels she can't admit to seeing?</span></span><br />

<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; line-height: 18px;"><b>“The thing about beliefs? Even the strongest can be shattered by the simplest of things.” </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">This book was incredible it had everything! Romance, action, adventure, heartbreak and of course mistery! The author did a great job with the characters, especially with Rayna. I felt like I was right beside her feeling the same things she felt. Rayna just felt real, she was not perfect and she had her flaws. At first she is weak and vulnerable but you see her grow up and become strong as you keep reading. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Another of my favorite persons was Lee. He makes a lot of Doctor Who references, is good with computers, and loves chocolate. I was afraid that Lee would have turned into the good friend with a secret crush who wouldn't plan on making a move till the bad boy came and stole the girl. Thank god that didn't happen! He was just a good friend who even tried to set up Rayna with another guy.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"> <b style="color: #181818; line-height: 18px;">“I was having second thoughts. And third and fourth ones.” </b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Cam and Kade were some really interesting characters. I still don't know how to feel about them. Cam was fighting between his feelings and the rules, it was refreshing having a guy who doesn't throw everything away for a girl. Kade was the typical sexy, bad boy, with a weird story. So I will definitely read the next book and keep an eye on this boys. The plot was really good, I can usually predict what is going to happen next, but with this book I kept being wrong. The pacing and flow was fine, it was easy to read. Give it a try it's pretty good book, there's potential for this series.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #181818; font-family: inherit; font-size: 14px; line-height: 18px; text-align: left;"><b><br /></b></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="box-sizing: border-box; line-height: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Pick a book in your favorite genre that you’d recommend to a reluctant reader.</span></span></div>
<div style="background-color: ; box-sizing: border-box; line-height: 19px; margin-bottom: 17px; padding: 0px; text-align: center;">
<span style="box-sizing: border-box; line-height: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The book that I choose would have to be...</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<span style="box-sizing: border-box; line-height: inherit;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">Although my favorite genre right now is YA sci-fi, I have to chose The Fault in Our Stars for a reluctant reader because it's a pretty awesome book. I have a friend who actually doesn't like to read but I made her, more like forced her, to read this book and she loved it. She called me at 3 in the morning crying and telling me that she absolutely loved the book. She said that she read it all in one day, hence she calling me at 3 in the morning-.- haha. But yeah I think this book is great for a person who doesn't really like to read much. </span></span></div>
